What is an SSL Checker?
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Checker is a security and SEO testing tool that analyzes in seconds whether a website's HTTPS encryption is present, the SSL certificate's validity (expiration) date, which authority (Issuer) issued it, and its TLS versions. By stamping a large red "Not Secure" warning on every site without a certificate, Google Chrome is now driving visitors away.
Why is an SSL Certificate the Heart of SEO?
- Google's Official Ranking Signal: Google announced in 2014 that it made HTTPS an official ranking factor. In other words, even if your content is exactly as perfect as your competitor's, if your competitor has SSL (HTTPS) and you don't (HTTP), your competitor will automatically knock you down and take the top spot.
- E-Commerce and Conversion Rates: Even if no credit card or personal information is taken on the page, users who do not see the Padlock icon in the address bar leave the site immediately. This high "Bounce Rate" directly transmits a signal to bots that your site is of low quality.
Main Causes of Certificate Warnings
Sometimes, even if you buy or install SSL (e.g., with Let's Encrypt / AutoSSL), the green lock does not appear in browsers. The most common reason is an image or an external JS code on the page being called with HTTP instead of HTTPS (Mixed Content Error). Our tool checks fundamentally whether the certificate is attached healthily.
How to Use It?
Paste the domain name whose SSL connection you want to test into the search box (e.g., seoaraci.com). The system connects to the server over port 443 and parses the certificate chain. It lists who the certificate belongs to and how many days are left until its Expiry date with green (Valid) or red (Invalid/Expired) warnings.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Question: Is there a difference in SEO between Free SSL (e.g., Cloudflare, Let's Encrypt) and Paid SSL?
Answer: No, in the eyes of Googlebot or the algorithm, there is no SEO ranking difference whatsoever between a free SSL and a thousand-dollar (EV - Extended Validation) SSL. Both encrypt traffic at 256-bit.
Question: I installed SSL on my site but I still appear as HTTP on Google, why?
Answer: Installing SSL is half the job. You must permanently redirect all your HTTP traffic to HTTPS via the server (HTACCESS with a 301 Redirect), add your site back to Search Console with the HTTPS domain name, and submit a sitemap.
