Working Agreement with SEO Consultant: Must-Have Items
Scope and KPI Definition
Before you start working with an SEO Consultant or agency, the boundaries of the project must be clearly drawn. The first element that should be included in the contract is the scope: Will only technical supervision be carried out, or will content production be included? The success criterion (KPI) should be based not just on "traffic" but on clearer data such as "qualified organic conversion" or successful indexing of targeted pages via Sitemap
Reporting Frequency and Pattern
- Monthly Report: List of technical improvements made.
- Performance Output: Organic growth metrics compared to last month.
- The contract should clearly state whether the report will be given as a PDF or via a live dashboard.
Content and Technical Responsibility Distribution
If an SEO consultancy has been received, it should be stated in the contract how much time your software team will spend to make corrections and who will enter the content into the system (client or agency). Otherwise, "We suggested it and you did not do it" discussions will occur.
Risk and Warranty Clauses
According to Google's guidance policies, no professional can guarantee the #1 ranking. Rather than a guarantee, the contract should contain a strong commitment that all White Hat SEO methods will be applied and that the project will not be put at risk with Black Hat tactics (artificial links, etc.).
